STEP 1 - Create Your Artwork

YOUR ARTWORK:

Draw a picture that tells the world how you feel about hope for a cure to type 1 diabetes. What would a cure for diabetes mean to you? How would a cure change your life? What are you doing for a cure? How does diabetes affect your life and your family's life?

BE ORIGINAL and SEND US ORIGINAL ARTWORK! Don't forget, ANY AGE CAN PARTICIPATE! You must create your own artwork. Do not copy or trace someone else's artwork.

YOU CAN:

• Draw a picture.
• Write a message with a colorful background.
• Draw a picture and include a written message inside of it.

In your picture, include anything about your life, your family, what you do to have fun, your neighborhood, your friends, and your community. You can also draw a picture about your life or a family member's life with type 1 diabetes and what you are doing to work for a cure. If you need help with this, ask your parents to help you.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Your picture must be created on an 11" x 8.5" piece of paper. If you can, ask your parents to help you find paper that is made from recycled materials.
2. On the back of your drawing write your:
   
   - First and Last Name
   - School Name
   - Grade
   - City
   
   
3. Draw you picture in landscape orientation. That means it should be 11" wide and 8.5" tall.
4. Use crayons, markers, colored pencils. Make your colors bold and bright!
5. If you are writing a message inside your picture, try to keep the message to 10 words or less.
6. If you are writing a message only, decorate your paper so that the words have a picture around them.
7. DO NOT PUT ANY OF THESE THINGS INSIDE YOUR PICTURE:
   
   - DO NOT write your name on the front of the picture.
   - DO NOT inappropriate language or subject matter.
   - DO NOT glitter, glue, sand, or anything that isn't flat on the page. Your picture is going to be scanned so we need it to be flat.
