It's Our World Don't Waste It
This giant 15'x20' mural contains over 14,000 artworks created by thousands of K-8 students across Michigan. Every student had the opportunity to express their appreciation for the beauty of nature, share their views on why it is important to preserve the earth's resources and take action by creating art that carried that message. Each artwork represents how thousands of creative ideas, expressed in a single drawing, helped create a giant mural, transforming the unique voices of children into a symphony of images.

The mosaic was unveiled in January 2007 at the Detroit Science Center. Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm officiated joined by hundreds of Michigan K-8 students, teachers, administrators and community leaders. In her remarks, the Governor highlighted Michigan's vast natural resources including the Great Lakes, forests, and wildlife.
