Lurie Children's Hospital

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago mosaic mural
program demonstrates the power of community, philanthropy, and love.

The Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Project S.N.A.P. partnered on a community engagement and donor recognition initiative that culminated in a 10’x10′ mosaic mural of Chicago from a child’s perspective that is on display in the lobby of the new state-of-the-art hospital.

The mosaic mural is one of the most unique pieces of art in the hospital because it includes hundreds of artworks made by members of the Lurie Children’s family.  Every tile tells a special story of a patient or loved one who has been touched by Lurie Children’s.  Everyone from nurses, to volunteers, to students in local schools and even the hospital’s President and CEO, Patrick Magoon contributed artworks.  In addition, hundreds of donors chose to recognize family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones through the tribute language printed on some of the thousands of tiles that make up this mosaic mural.  The result is a beautiful representation of the power of community, philanthropy, and love.

When you look at the mural you're seeing people's commitment and love for every single person that has walked through these doors. whether financially or through their passion or through their creativity. I think that is really special and really symbolizes what Lurie Children's really does.

Donors and artwork contributors can find their tile online in the Project S.N.A.P. Online Art Museum.  Lurie Children’s is grateful to those who generously supported this mosaic mural project and to all who contributed artworks.
